About Me

Learning should be exciting for the students and the teacher. I believe every student is capable of learning and completing quality work. Students are individuals that learn in a variety of ways. I teach using the Multiple Intelligences. Students have choices in the way they would like to learn the material. Students become part of the team with a voice in their education.

It is also important for young adults to have a prior base of knowledge from which to draw upon when they are learning something new. I teach across the curriculum. All units incorporate other subjects, helping students learn new ideas based upon former learning experiences.

I started teaching at Gold Rush when they first opened their doors, nine years ago. It is my first teaching assignment.  My profession before teaching was being a mom, one of he best jobs in the world. I also was an entrepreneur, I owned a floral shop for ten years.  I enjoy art, I have a B.A. in Fine Art with a focus in sculpture. I also enjoy writing; I am two classes away from a B.A. in English.  I hope to write the great American novel someday, just like everyone else!  I have received a few awards in art and writing.

My assignment at this time is working with the seniors at Gold Rush.  I enjoy immensely  working with this group.  They are almost mature young adults, making decisions about their future, enjoying their last year as a high school  student, not quite sure of the future.  I get to watch their excitement as they enter the real world and become responsible young adults.  I hope to continue teaching for many more satisfying years.
