About Me

Growing up in New Hampshire provided me with lots of opportunities to enjoy the northern forests as well as the tide pools of the frigid, north Atlantic Ocean. I always cherished the changing of the seasons, fall foliage and winter sports that came with being a New Englander. I went to University of New Hampshire where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Conservation. Afterwards, I left New Hampshire to work for the Forest Service and Park Service, in Arizona and California. Both places were so enchanting that I eventually settled in California where I have lived for 30 years. I had wonderful opportunities to explore Sequoia National Park as a biologist and as a helitack crew member. I also lived on the central coast and worked at Vandenberg Air Force Base as an environmental engineer after getting a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering at University of Southern California.

These opportunities happened as a result of having a good education, and I am thankful to my parents for giving me this gift and instilling in me an appreciation for learning. Education has always been very important to me and it is through teaching that I share my gifts with others. Teenagers continue to fascinate me and I enjoy growing with them and learning from them. Further, Gold Rush Charter School enables me to establish close relationships with students, and this feature is very fulfilling to me. Since working at Gold Rush, I have acquired a single subject in Biology and am happy to return to teaching biology as well as algebra and geometry.
